Cryptic Studios is looking for an experienced and highly motivated HR Manager to join our Operations team in Los Gatos. In this role, you can utilize your interpersonal skills, can-do attitude, and ability to learn quickly, to ensure that Cryptic continues to offer top-notch benefits, service, and working environment to our employees. As the HR Manager, you will be directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources function. Located in Northern California we offer the fun, focused, and casual atmosphere of a small video developer. We actively balance our work with the personal lives of our employees. At Cryptic, we look for people who have passion for what they do and work well in teams to create and operate fun and challenging online games.

What you will be doing:

  • Driving HR strategy and ensuring all policies and procedures are up to date and legally compliant
  • Working closely with executive staff and parent company VPs to ensure HR practices align with company values across the organization
  • Recommending, evaluating, and participating in staff development
  • Developing hiring strategies and compensation plans
  • Implementing initiatives to retain talent and ensure engagement
  • Coaching managers on issues such as organization effectiveness, team dynamics and talent assessment
  • Building and maintaining our employee culture and morale
  • Enhancing existing systems and processes for efficiency
  • Managing the performance review process on an annual basis
  • Strategizing and communicating changes in personnel policies and procedures
  • Supporting employee driven initiatives
  • Providing timely and accurate responses to employment related requests
  • Mediating conflicts between employees

Who you are:

  • You have extensive knowledge of HR practices and procedures, knowledge of state and federal laws
  • Willing to address difficult situations head-on with patience and respect
  • Excellent communicator with outstanding organizational skills
  • Discrete, trustworthy with multitasking capabilities
  • Team player with the ability to lead people and build trust
  • You are not afraid to get your hands dirty with the rest of the team and do some filing, stocking or data entry when necessary

What we need to see:

  • BA degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Human Resources supervisory position
  • Working knowledge of ADP or related payroll database preferred, familiar with ATS
  • Experience in the video game industry (or other industry employing highly creative people) is a plus!
