Temperatures in the Los Gatos area are moderate, with average temperatures in January ranging from 59-42 degrees and an average high temperature in July of 84 degrees. Rainfall is light, about 14.4 inches annually, and Los Gatos should see more than 300 sunny days a year. EducationThe valley has numerous opportunities to advance your education, including Stanford University and San Jose State University. University of California Santa Cruz is less than an hour away. Farmers' MarketsWeekly farmers' markets throughout Silicon Valley offer a bounty of fresh, organic local fruits and vegetables, flowers, baked goods and specialty food items. Los GatosKnown as one of the most desirable places to live in the San Francisco Bay area, Los Gatos offers the charm of a small town minutes away from the conveniences of a large city. The downtown is ideal for strolling and is filled with a wide variety of lunchtime dining options, upscale shops and art galleries. The town is surrounded by several mountain biking trails, and road biking also is popular. Public events include concerts, a Shakespeare festival and an annual holiday light show. ParksSanta Clara County features 28 regional parks, encompassing nearly 45,000 acres of urban and mountain parks, trails, lakes, streams and open space. Cryptic Studios is located near the beautiful Vasona and Oak Meadow parks. The Los Gatos Creek Trail is a 9.7-mile urban bike and pedestrian trail with many entry points throughout the area, including one near Cryptic Studios, providing a safe and convenient bike route to work. Public TransportationThe Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) provides bus, shuttle and rail service throughout the area. The system links to Caltrain for convenient rail service to and from San Francisco. Both VTA and Caltrain provide numerous amenities to make public transit easier, including Park and Ride stations and bike lockers. For air travel, the closest international airports are San Jose International Airport (SJC), San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK). SportsThe San Jose Sharks, a NHL Hockey team, plays at HP Pavilion. San Jose is also home to arena football, soccer, lacrosse and California League baseball. The 49ers and Raiders (NFL) and the Giants and A's (Major League Baseball) are nearby in the San Francisco/Oakland area. And NBA team the Golden State Warriors plays in Oakland.
